Best Time to Visit

Winter

Winter is the peak season in the area and runs from December to April with the ski resort and neighboring Keystone Ski Resort closing mid month.  There are lots of options for winter activities on and off the slopes.  Breckenridge is especially popular during peak ski season and summer weekends, so booking lodging early is recommended.

Summer

The summer season runs from May to August.  The area is vibrant with wildflowers and wildlife.  There are lots of summer activities to keep you busy such as hiking, mountain biking, white water rafting and flyfishing.  Festivals and live music run all summer long.

Fall

The fall season is September to November.  It brings stunning aspen foliage, cooler temperatures and sometimes snow.  Road trips are popular along mountain passes to look at the leaves and the wildlife viewing.


Getting to Breckenridge

Breckenridge is one of the most accessible mountain towns in Colorado.  It is the closest to Denver International Airport, only a 1 1/2 to 2 hour drive with direct access via I-70 and Highway 9.  Shuttle services and rental cars are readily available to get to town.

Getting Around Town

Once in town, a car is not always necessary.  There is a  free town shuttle system and the downtown area is highly walkable.  Easy gondola access to the resort
