Summer & Fall Activities Guide to Boulder

Once the snow melts, the warm Colorado sun gives way to a host of summer activities in Boulder Colorado.  Boulder comes alive with the outdoor dining, the street entertainers along the Pearl Street Mall and hikers and cyclists enjoying the outdoors.

Summer festivals are a regular form of entertainment in Boulder.  May hosts the The Boulder Creek Festival, and Wednesday evenings the Pearl Street Mall rocks with Bank on the Bricks  an evening concert in the heart of Boulder.

The Boulder Farmers Market is an amazing stop if you’re in town on Wednesdays or Saturdays. Spanning two city blocks, the Farmer’s Market offers more than just local produce.  Bring your appetite on Saturday mornings and enjoy fresh coffee, pastries and fruit while you listen to music from a local band.

HikingSummer Hiking along NCAR in Boulder

Boulder has trails from easy 30 minute walks to multi day trails.  To search for local trails, visit All Trails. They give in depth directions and descriptions of the area trails.  Even the dog friendly ones too!  When hiking in Colorado, be prepared.  With the altitude and bluebird sky, the sun can be fierce.  Take sunscreen, lots of water and leave no trace!

Tubing Boulder Creek

Tubing down Boulder Creek is a rite of summer passage in Boulder.  The community centers around Boulder Creek with signature events such as the Boulder Creek Festival, Tube to Work Day, or just a weekend hangout for returning CU Boulder college students.   Flowing with icy water from Colorado snowmelt, Boulder Creek is cold even in summer.  It is a welcome on a hot day.  Depending on the month and the amount of snowmelt from the mountains, it can be a peaceful float downstream or a wild ride.

Touring Boulder in an inner tube down Boulder Creek is not without its risks.  So, it’s important to gear up appropriately and choose a day when the water levels safe. Local company, White Water Tubing offers local knowledge and tube rentals to help make your experience safe and fun!

Mountain Biking

If moving faster on the trails is your interest, then Boulder is your destination for the summer.  Boulder is one of the top mountain biking destinations along the Front Range.  There are numerous beginner trails for visitors new to mountain biking.  The Valmont Bike Park is a playground for seasoned riders and newbies too.  To search for local trails, visit Trailforks.com.  There are many local bike shops that rent mountain bikes.

CyclingBiking along Boulder Creek

Boulder and cycling are almost synonymous.  Did you know Boulder is a world class training ground for elite level cyclists and Ironman  competitors.  Made famous by the American Flyers movie, Boulder hosted a stage in the Colorado Classic back in the day.  You can trace the route of this iconic race or enjoy a leisure pedal along the Boulder Creek Path. There are miles of dedicated bike paths in and around Boulder.  You can rent a bike at a local bike shop.  They will help show you which bike best fits you.
