Ray’s River Rentals offers tubing adventures in Lyons, Colorado.  It is a wonderful way to cool down during a Colorado summer visit to Lyons or even from neighboring Estes Park and Boulder.  River tubing at the Lyons Whitewater Park offers a ton of fun with human made waves and swim holes, beautiful views and a relaxing atmosphere. Picnicking in between laps makes for a great day on the river.  

Tour details

You can rent a single tube or a double tube.  Tubing the Lyons White water Park at Lavern M. Johnson Park is a 3/4 mile long stretch of river.  If you would like to float longer, You can float 1.5 miles from the shop at Lyons White Water Park to the Black Bear Bridge.  It is a 20 minute walk back to the start.
Restrictions:  To keep everyone safe, each season has posted age limit.  No children below the posted age limit are allowed to use tubes, PFD’s, helmets for any gear or ride on parent’s lap or share a tube.  Age limits depend on water levels.  Please check the current conditions before planning your trip.

2026 RIVER UPDATE

Late May to Early June | Colorado is experiencing the lowest snowpack year on record.  We are expecting to be open.  Please check back in April.

Late June to Early July | Prime tubing conditions.  Perfect for ages 7+. Falling off is possible.

Mid-July | Prime tubing conditions. Perfect for ages 7+, depending on conditions sometimes 5+. Falling off is possible but manageable.

Late July | Family friendly fun.  Typically safe for ages 5+. Water levels are still good but mellowing out.

Early August | Flows are lower and some rocks are exposed. A great ride, but expect to navigate a bit.

Mid-August | Easygoing float ad relaxing flows. The water is calm and falling off is unlikely.


About Ray’s River Rentals

Ray’s River Rentals is owned and operated by Ray Mees and his wife Stef.  Ray was a commercial river guide on the Cache La Poudre River for ten years guiding guests down its class 3-4 section in Poudre Canyon. ​ When not working, you can find Ray and Stef rafting on the Poudre River, tubing and paddle boarding the St. Vrain, mountain biking all around Northern Colorado and XC skiing nearby in the forests.
