Winter fly fishing with Telluride Fly Fishers combines passion and experience with their professional guides.  We assist beginners in developing their skills as well as fine tuning the techniques of expert anglers. Local rivers and streams call to anglers offering nature’s beauty, diversity and home to brook, rainbow, cutthroat, brown, and cutbow trout. Trips with Telluride Fly Fishers are customized to the client with access to the San Miguel River, Dolores River, their tributaries, alpine lakes, as well as hiking to mountain streams. Where we fish depends on weather, conditions, customer requests, and what water is fishing most productively.

About this Tour

Experience the magic of winter fly fishing in Telluride and the San Juan Mountains—a peaceful, scenic adventure surrounded by snow-covered peaks and crystal-clear waters. During the colder months, we offer half-day guided trips during the warmest part of the day. We’re fortunate to enjoy plenty of sunshine in our Colorado winters—the sun warms the water, the fish, the bugs, and us! That said, once the sun dips behind the mountains, temperatures drop quickly. Start and end times for each trip will vary depending on weather conditions, fishing location, and available sunlight.

Our experienced local guides will take you to some of the most beautiful winter fishing spots in the region. Each guide works with up to two guests, and we limit groups to no more than four anglers total, ensuring a safe, personal, and attentive experience on the water.

Please note: Due to the challenging conditions, winter excursions are open to participants ages 16 and older.

Customers will receive a full refund or credit with 48 hours notice of cancellation. Customers will also receive a full refund or credit in case of operator cancellation due to unforeseen circumstances. Contact us by phone to cancel or inquire about a cancellation. No-shows will be charged the full price.

About Telluride Fly Fishers, LLC

Telluride Fly Fishers is an Orvis-endorsed guide service, locally owned and operated since 1989. We offer half-day and full-day walk/wade trips in the Telluride, Colorado area. Having been in operation for 30 years, our guides have full knowledge and understanding of the surrounding region. Over the last 30 years we have sparked a love of everything outdoors in countless children. We remember being beginner anglers and love to see the quick progression anglers make with one of our guides by their side.

With a degree in fish biology and a wealth of experience, Goose has been guiding for over 25 years, honing his skills in some of the most renowned fishing destinations across the country. His journey has taken him from the rugged waters of Alaska, where he guided for 12 years, to the tropical paradise of the Florida Keys, and back to the mountain streams of Colorado.

During the winter, Kaitlyn can be found on the ski slopes teaching lessons. But when the snow melts and spring arrives, she transitions to office duties or spends her time on the river pursuing her passion for angling.
