Private tours are great for photographers, families, elopements & weddings, memorials, or groups that want to customize their own itinerary. Our guides will recommend their favorite spots on the day of your visit, or we will take requests (trail conditions dependent). It’s up to you!

Private Jeep Tour – Up to 5 people

Let Alpine’s talented guides share our fabulous mountain scenery at your own pace, in comfort. Private tours can be 4 hours, 6 hours, or 8 hours long.

​Private tours are great for photographers, families, elopements/weddings, memorials or groups that want to travel at their own pace. Our guides will recommend their favorite spots on the day of your visit, or we will take requests (trail conditions dependent). It’s up to you! Bring snacks, drinks, water, personal gear, and even your dog (who can ride for free in the back of our private Gladiator Jeeps) for your custom excursion. Cover as much trail as you can, or take your time to explore side attractions as they arise. It’s YOUR private tour.

Private Truck Tour – Up to 12 people

These tours are great for groups larger than five guests for one flat rate. Each truck accommodates up to ten guests. We provide nine individual Corbeau seats. The tenth seat will be in the cab of your truck. These excursions are fully customizable. Your tour truck and experienced guide will be able to create a one off adventure for you and your group in the San Juans. You will be able to build your own tour and spend your time touring at your own pace.

We have permits to over a dozen amazing trails in the Uncompahgre National Forest and beyond. Some of the trails/locations we access are: Imogene pass-Ouray side, Silver Basin, Sydney Basin, Governor Basin, Upper and lower Yankee Boy Basin, Engineer pass, Corkscrew pass, Cinnamon pass, Hurricane pass, California pass, ghost towns of Ironton, Animas Forks and Red Mountain Mining District. Some of these trails require 4-6 hours to tour at an enjoyable pace, Imogene pass coming to mind first. Guests routinely mix and match different locations to their liking. We offer these private tours in 4 and 6 hour increments.

Colorado Western Whiskey Tour

New addition to our 2026 Specialty Tours Lineup! Unique, one of a kind experience, you will not find elsewhere!

You will begin your adventure by rallying at the KJ Wood Distillery Building in downtown Ouray, Co. After being greeted by your whiskey Sommelier who is also your 4×4 guide you will take flight in one of Alpine’s Legendary tour trucks to an incredibly surreal mountain landscape. Tasting Destinations could include, but are not limited to: Twin Falls, Corkscrew pass, Governor Basin, Yellow rose falls etc. Your guide will tailor the destination to his/her choice based upon their expertise of the San Juan’s, ensuring the ultimate outing.

Once on the ground you can expect a flight like none other. You will be offered the finest samples exclusively from Craft Colorado distilleries! After your sampling tour you will still experience the exciting descent back into downtown Ouray. Upon return your options include a brief distillery tour, accompanied by bottle sales. All tour guests enjoy an additional 10% of bottle sales. Finally enjoy a craft cocktail upstairs in Cahoots with a killer view of our San Juan Sunset! This tour pairs well with Wedding parties, bachelor(ette) parties, folks seeking a unique experience or even corporate outings! Tours will be limited to a max of 9 guests.  Tours can be purchased by the seat or make it private and reserve the entire truck!

Cancellation Policy

We understand – plans change! However, we kindly ask for a minimum of 72 hours notice if you need to cancel or change your trip:

• FULL REFUND for cancellations 3+ days (72 hours) in advance. We have a no questions asked refund policy if made within this time frame, so simply give us a call and leave a voicemail or shoot us an email. Any cancellations for any reason made under 72 hours of your trip departure time will be 100% forfeited and no refund will be issued. This policy is strictly enforced.
• NO RESCHEDULING within 72 hours of your tour departure time. We allow 1 reschedule per booking and will work with you to find availability on our calendar.
• NO SHOWS will be fully charged. We do not issue refunds if you are late and you miss your group tour.
• GROUP TOURS must meet a minimum of 4 passengers. If your group tour does not meet this minimum, we will contact you prior to your tour date to discuss further scheduling options and/or refunds.

About Alpine Scenic 4×4 Tours

We are a family-run business offering guided 4×4 tours in the stunning San Juan Mountains. Based out of Ouray, Colorado, we’re experts in adventure and the #1 rated tour company in the area.

Founder, Joe,  grew up exploring and adventuring in the Gila Mountains in Southern New Mexico, fueling his love of the outdoors and off-roading from an early age. When he was 10 years old, his family purchased a 1964 International Scout; his first introduction to a 4×4 vehicle. After that, he fell in love with everything the 4-wheel drive world had to offer. Joe enjoys spending his free time fishing, camping with his family, and riding his motorcycle. Being able to turn his passion for building trucks, maneuvering 4x4s, and exploring the high country into a successful business is his signature source of pride. He is eager to share these obsessions with fellow adventurers—from near and far!
