With most hotels and condo properties offering free shuttle service from Pitkin Airport (ASE) and a free shuttle service taking you and your gear from mountain to mountain, renting a car is really unnecessary.  If you choose to stay further out in a private home, you may find a rental car a convenience.  Below are details on how to make your way around Aspen and Snowmass Village.

Airport Shuttle

Most properties which are professionally managed provide free airport shuttle service.  A ride is as simple as calling their local number once you have picked up your baggage at the Aspen Airport.  Your lodging property will provide you the number to call with your travel documents.

By Foot or By Bike

A pedestrian and bike friendly town, you can literally walk the entire width of the Town of Aspen in 20 minutes.  In Snowmass Village, the Mall and Base Village areas are also perfect for strolling.  Fat bikes are seen zipping around town in the winter and during the summer, bikes are available for rent.

Village Shuttle

RFTA Bus Service | Roaring Fork Transit Authority

The RFTA Bus service (pronounced RAFTA) services the four mountain area.  Convenient schedules (up to 2am on weekends) and ski and snowboard racks, this is the most affordable and reliable way to get around town.  Staying in Glenwood Springs?  No problem.  The VelociRFTA is the bus service direct to the Town of Aspen and can get you to the gondola in 45 minutes.  For up to date schedules and fares, visit the RFTA web site.

Rental Car

In need of a rental car?   You can pick up at Aspen Airport, Eagle Airport or even Denver International Airport.
