Cross Country Skiing | Opening Day is November 24, 2022

Cross Country Skiing is a free winter activity in Snowmass.  There are over 60 miles of Nordic trails.  The trails connect the towns of Snowmass Village, Woody Creek, and Basalt.  Pitkin County Open Space and Trails funds the trails and the City of Aspen operates them.

Ice Skating

Find some off-mountain fun the whole family can enjoy together. Aspen boasts one outdoor skating rink, The iconic Aspen Ice Garden, which has been a part of Aspen’s history for the past 50 years. Renovated in 2013, the Ice Garden is conveniently located in the downtown core of Aspen just steps from Aspen Mountain.  There are also two indoor rinks at the Lewis Ice Arena.

Sledding

Aspen offers free sledding at the Who Nelly Sledding Hill.  The Aspen Recreation Center’s Winter Wonderland features great outdoor sledding that is perfect for après ski or just an afternoon family outing.
