Once the snow melts, the warm Colorado sun gives way to a host of summer activities in Beaver Creek Colorado.  The Beaver Creek trees are a vibrant green, the mountains are majestic ragged peaks and the trails are alive with wildflowers, bikers and hikers.

Summer festivals are a weekly form of entertainment in Beaver Creek.   August hosts the Xterra World Championships and the Beaver Creek Arts Festival, two great weekends to build your vacation around. Outdoor concerts are a weekly event in town too.

Step away from luxury and try camping.  You will wake up to the crisp Colorado air and dine al fresco at your campfire.  It’s an experience like no other.

Hiking

Beaver Creek has trails from easy 30 minute walks to all day trails such as the Four Pass Loop.  To search for local trails, visit Hiking Project. They give in depth directions and descriptions of the area trails.  Even the dog friendly ones too!  When hiking in Colorado, be prepared.  With the altitude and bluebird sky, the sun can be fierce.  Take sunscreen, lots of water and leave no trace!

Mountain Biking

If moving faster on the trails is your interest, then Beaver Creek is your destination for the summer.  Beaver Creek is one of the top mountain biking destinations in Colorado.  There are numerous beginner trails for visitors new to mountain biking.  The nearby Minturn Bike Park is a playground for seasoned riders.  To search for local trails, visit Trailforks.com.  There are many local bike shops that rent mountain bikes.

White Water Rafting

Another popular summer activity in Beaver Creek is white water rafting on the Eagle, Colorado, and Arkansas rivers.  Experienced rafters can raft through the Class IV rapids of the Gore Creek or on the Arkansas River.  Families with kids as young as four years old can enjoy a Class II rapids trip. For the more adventurous, If a little more adventure is what you want, a trip on the Class III Shoshone Rapids or Brown’s Canyon on the Arkansas River.

Golf

There are five golf courses within a five mile radius of Beaver Creek and they typically open in the beginning of May, weather dependent of course.  Golf courses include, Beaver Creek Golf Club, one of the longest established golf courses in the Vail Valley. There is  Cordillera features four golf courses crafted by Tom Fazio, Jack Nicklaus, Dave Pelz, and Hale Irwin.

Red Sky Golf Club offers two world-class golf courses designed by Tom Fazio and Greg Norman. Also features the David Leadbetter Golf Academy.
